TAMA Drums & TAMA Hardware
The Japanese company Hoshino began selling the first Tama drums in 1965, although back then they were still called STAR. The STAR brand was renamed TAMA in 1974. Since then, TAMA has brought many innovations to the market in drums and drum hardware. The STAR name has never completely disappeared and can still be found in almost all TAMA series names, such as the Starclassic, Superstar, and Imperialstar drum series. TAMA's German distributor is Meinl Musikinstrumente GmbH & Co.KG in Gutenstetten.

TAMA – Top-of-the-line drum construction
TAMA is now among the absolute world leaders in drum construction, thanks in no small part to its high-quality construction and perfect drum sound in every price range. With the TAMA Superstar series, TAMA created a professional drum kit in 1977 that remains one of the best-selling drum sets ever. It delivers crystal-clear sound and reliable stability at a fair price. The TAMA Starclassic series, available in various finishes (birch/bubinga, maple, and bubinga), is also the epitome of professionalism, fat sound, and robust drum shell hardware for countless drummers. The entry-level class is called the TAMA Imperialstar: robust complete drum kits at an affordable price.
